Indiecan takes Berlin prize winner ‘Sunshine’ for North America

IndieCan Entertainment has won North American rights sofshinea Filipino drama that won Crystal Bear for the best films in the Generation 14plus section of this year’s Berlin Film Festival.

The deal also covers the film’s remake rights, and the English adaptation will be directed by Indikan’s AVI Feder Garin, produced by Feder Garin Entertainment and Michael Angelo Masankai’s Sign Media Inc.

Written and directed by Filipino film director Antoinette Jadarn. Sunshine It stars Maris Reichal in the story of a young gymnast who discovers she is pregnant while preparing for a national team tryout. Producers are Dan Vilgas, Geo Romundad and Bianca Valbuena.

The film will premiere at the 2024 Toronto Festival and will be shown at upcoming festivals in Taipei, Malaysia and Seoul.

IndieCan is planning a North American theatre and digital release in the fourth quarter of this year.

The deal, which was released at Cannes this week, was a collaboration with Project 8 Project, Anima Studios, Claudidak Pictures, Happy Infinite and Synthmedia Inc.
