Musk announced on May 28 that he plans to leave the federal government for a 130-day term as a special government employee.

President Donald Trump announced on May 29 that he would hold a press conference with Elon Musk, the resignation manager of the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) the following day.

“I’m holding a press conference with Elon Musk in my oval office tomorrow at 1:30pm ET. This is his last day, but he’s always with us and with us. Elon is amazing! See you tomorrow at the White House.”
