Exclusive: Mbi has expanded to Italian theatre distribution.
The company has appointed Gabriele D’Andrea as VP, Managing Director of Mubi Italia, leading the transition to domestic theatre distribution.
D’Andrea joined Mbi 13 years later with Lucky Red, where she led theatrical strategy and distribution. He is also the CEO of Circuit Cinema, a leading network of Italian independent and arthouse films.
The Italian movement complements Mbi’s existing theatre distribution operations across North America, Latin America, the UK, Germany and Venellax. That Benelux distribution will be processed through Cinéart, where Mubi acquired a majority stake in 2024.
Mbi Italia will officially release official theatre slate in Italy this year with the release of Lynn Ramsay Die, my lovestarring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. Premiered in a competition at Cannes, the film was recently acquired by Mbi in a multi-stage deal covering North America, Latin America, the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Venellax, Turkey, India and Australia.
