Officials say that the temporary protected status was against the interests of the United States, but defenders say innocent people are harmed.

Advocates say the Supreme Court’s decision to allow the administration to cancel temporary protected status (TPS) for hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans in the United States has negatively affected members of the community who have not committed crimes.

Meanwhile, the White House said the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) decision to cancel Venezuelan immigration protections, upheld by the Supreme Court on May 19, coincides with the promises President Donald Trump made to the American people.
