Elon Musk did it again. This time, the shock wave is felt by Tesla’s stock price. Tech Tycoon’s latest political tilade has rushed investors to cover after Musk launched an explosive attack on Donald Trump’s tax bill after Tesla shares plummeted more than 4%.
“Kill the bill!” Musk was furious on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, June 4th, urging Americans to pick up phones and bag the senators and lawmakers. “America is not OK to go bankrupt!” he thundered, calling the bill “unpleasant and hateful” and accusing Congress of stuffing it with pork.
But Wall Street was hitting the brakes while Musk went to Capitol Hill for Ham.
Tesla shares fell 4.2% during trading, slipping further down in pre-market trading. I’m wondering whether the mask mouth is Tesla’s biggest responsibility.

The company was also facing a public backlash from home turf. Recent protests outside of the US Tesla showroom have highlighted growing customer dissatisfaction, reportedly abandoning Teslas completely about Musk’s candid politics and recognizing how comfortable he is with the Trump campaign.

Musk’s double action is CEO and serves as a political pitbull. Tesla’s Robotaxi dream, EV domination, and federal contracts with NASA and the Department of Defense all rely on political goodwill. Choosing a fight with the president may not be the smartest move.
And as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration still contemplates autonomous driving regulations, Musk’s war with Washington could leave his futuristic fleet to park in slow lanes.
But for now, it appears that Mask is more interested in killing bills than building cars.
