Ruben Ostlund, Maura Delpero, Juho Kuosmanen head to Croatia’s Slano Film Days

Reuben Ostrand, Maura Delpero and Juho Kuosmanen are among the international directors attending the Croatian town of Slano for the second edition of Slano Film Days, which will take place from June 17th to 21st.

Announced in collaboration with Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Sarajevo Film Festival, Slano Film Days aims to bring together established international experts with 14 emerging filmmakers through talks and screening programs.

The participants consisted of five directors, six actors and three cinematographers.

The event was announced last year by Mirsad Purivatra, founder and former director of the Sarajevo Film Festival.

In addition to Ostlund, Delpero and Kuosmanen, international guests attended include Daniel Bruhl, Steve Buscemi, Michel Franco and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Director of Cinematography Michael Ceresin.

Ostlund discusses his experience creating the seventh feature The entertainment system is down. He is working on editing the film at Slano, offering participants the opportunity to watch the editing process.

Participants will also hear from directors, including Jasmila Zbanic. Ada, where are you going?

In the screening program, Kuosmanen will showcase Thomas Vinterberg’s 2020 dark comedy Another roundBruhl shows his breakout role in Wolfgang Becker’s 2003 Goodbye, Lenin! Buscemi introduces Tolga Karacelik’s 2024 Psychotherapyhe starred.

Prior to Carole Reed’s 1949 classic The third manPavel Pawlikowski introduces the 2024 shorts Musefeaturing live piano performances scored by composer Marsin Masecki.

All screenings will take place at the town’s outdoor Villa Riva venue.

Cinelink Workshop

Slano Film Days will also perform at the Cinelink Workshop host, part of Sarajevo Film Festival’s Cinelink Industry Days. Eight feature film projects were chosen last month to participate in the workshop. It consists of script development support through consultation and expert-led sessions.

Selected projects include Azeri film director Hilal Beidarov Stone on top of stonefor a young couple living in a corrupt construction site, they struggle to ensure a hopeful future for their unborn child. David Capac’s 1920 set Croatian Project Gentilesthere, when her husband gets lost in the sea, a woman leaves the villager’s mercy on the island of Dalmatian.

The workshop will also host five regional series projects, including Asmina Proedrou’s political thriller Under the surface From Greece, already developed through the Series Mania Institute Program.

After development at the workshop, all projects and additional titles will take part in Cinelink Industry Days in Sarajevo on August 15-22.

Slano Film Days aims to engage with the community through a family film weekend, which will feature two screenings at Villa Riva the weekend before the event officially launched. How to Train a Dragon June 14th – Worldwide Release Weekend – Before Taika Waititi’s 2016 Adventure Comedy Wilderpeople hunting the next day.

Slano Film Days is supported by the Serbian Film Centre, the Montenegro Film Centre and the Slovenian Film Centre.
