Black Ops 6 Zombie Mode’s sad return is messy, but improved

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Season 4 finally came here, and it brought a real explosion from the past. More than a decade after its first appearance in Black Ops 2, the strange multiplayer and zombie Lovechild, known as Grief, is back. Attack two teams of four players at each other and pit horde of undead at once. The goal is to survive the longest possible time, hindering the enemy. They cannot directly harm the enemy, but they can live their lives instead. I’m extremely pleased to see sadness return, but that doesn’t mean that the mode isn’t without issues. Luckily, Treyarch is already aiming for some of the biggest issues with the new game mode, with many more changes in the middle.

The competitive spin of sadness in zombies is something that wave-based game modes have long been needed. It’s been nearly 13 years since I jumped into the unique brand of chaos with a friend from BO2. I’m so happy to see him return in Black Ops 6. Between the overwhelming meteor and the lack of truly effective sadness abilities, the nostalgia-driven mode of multiplayer games is not where you need it. That’s why Treyarch has already made some major changes and has done more.

“First: Melee Spam. I want melee attacks to remain as mechanics to ruin enemy players, but that shouldn’t be meta. Take the first step to deal with this when attacked by enemy players’ melee attacks and make sure that a brawl attack from the same weapon ensures new stuns and slow effects until the previous stuns and slow effects are slowly and faster.

“Next: match length. The target ceiling is about 30 minutes, and there are some updates as some matches last for over an hour (or two!). Today, you’re increasing the number of kills needed for ether shrouds and healing auras, so if your team gives up and gives up, your team will escape when you’re exonerated, your team is giving up, and your team is giving up for saving time, and your team is giving up for saving time, and how to prevent stacking, and Gobblegum spam and further limit the number of self-renewals that can be crafted.

“Third: We want all sadness to be shocked. We are working on the best ways to raise “sadness.”

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombie Sadness Changes

As of the new patch on Friday, June 6th, some of the changes mentioned above have already been made to sadness. The flinch effect has decreased, and repeated melee attacks from the same weapon no longer add new stuns until the previous weapon is finished. Now, the ether shroud also has a soothing aura, it takes 240 kills to charge 180.

This should make you feel that sadness is already quite good to play. I hope the match won’t last much longer, and those nasty melee spammers should not get a very unfair advantage either. I’d love to see this version of sadness stick, so hopefully the latest patch from Treyarch sticks on landing.
