Some VPNs go even further and offer lifelong deals, but at the end of the day, you can’t really trust them to keep going that long. Perhaps they didn’t mention human lifespan after all, or they thought most people only lived in it for a few years.
VPN Secure is a VPN service that has been swimming under the mainstream for several years. You can’t find it on the list of the best VPNs, let’s do it like that. At one point, it offered a lifetime deal…but recently these have been cancelled. VPN Secure has been acquired and its new owner, InfiniteQuant Ltd, did not know that there were users who paid to use the service indefinitely.
It seems hard to believe. You probably didn’t use VPN Secure as a gaming VPN, but it’s fine for basic encryption and privacy online… But how did companies spend the money to buy a VPN business without finding the majority of users that a significant percentage of users aren’t paying for?
The register report includes an interview with Infinitequant Ltd CEO Romain Brabant, who explained the cancellation that fell into lifelong users’ inboxes in April. “The technical debt and server costs associated with supporting legacy promises made many years ago have become unsustainable for modern VPN infrastructure,” he said.
There is probably a debate in favour of this. Certainly, some VPN Secure’s lifetime plans seem to be available for just $27.99. As a comparison point, the prices are extremely generous as you can sign up for a premium service like Nordvpn and get a year’s coverage for $50.
However, Infinitequant Ltd claims that the VPN transaction from Australian company BoostNetwork Pty Ltd is “assets only” and does not include liabilities. Apparently, when performing due diligence prior to the purchase, “no mention of lifetime transactions was made anywhere in the listing, profit and loss statement, or communication.”
This is another valuable lesson about sticking to well-known and highly-rated VPNs like Nordvpn and ExpressVPN. We get excellent customer service along with reliable service, available client apps, excellent customer service and affordable pricing.
If you already have a lifetime VPN trading, it’s probably time to think again. Often these are fire and forgotten services, and operators usually provide poor service of customer service, limited or outdated security and functionality, and suspicious reliability. Even if you think it’s quite a bit, it’s probably not.
