Indonesian animation ‘Jumbo’ becomes biggest ever local film and scores sales

Exclusive: Indonesian animation feature Jumbo became the best local local movie of all time, recording a strong sales following the Cannes market.

Family Adventure is now on track for 10.1 million admissions today (June 4th), about 66 days after it opened on March 31st. Dancer Village KKN (alias Dance Village), a supernatural fear that has accumulated over 10 million admissions in 2022.

jumbo As of Sunday (June 1), it had won more than $24.7 million (RP40.2 billion) according to independent box office tracker Cinepoint. Overall, this film is only behind Marvel Studios Avengers: EndgameIt recorded approximately 11 million people’s admissions in 2019.

The US- and France-based sales agent Magic Fair has also closed its distribution deals for films in Korea (Barunsong E&A), Latin America (Cine Video Y TV), CIS (Exponenta), Turkey (BG Film), Mongolia (Movie Bridge), Taiwan (CAI Chang International), Vietnam (AEON BETA), and Singapore (Komet and Skomet and Skomet). It is currently sold to over 30 international territories.

The film will be released for the first time outside Indonesia when it opens tomorrow (June 5th) in Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

It marks the first animation feature directed by Ryan Adriandhy and produced by Jakarta-based Visinema Studios. The story continues with a bullied boy called Jumbo by his companions. When the fairy appears to be seeking help, the two embark on an adventure, reunites her with their family, searching for a stolen book written by the boy’s deceased parents.

“We’ve been working hard to get the most out of our lives,” said Angga Dwimas Sasongo, founder of Visinema Group.

The film was created over five years by over 400 Indonesian artists and animators.
