The FBI’s deputy director said protesters should “make wise choices” and immigration enforcement efforts will continue.
FBI director Kash Patel said he was targeting individuals attacking law enforcement officials during protests and riots in Los Angeles, but his deputy commander said the government has “not stopped” immigration enforcement efforts that sparked the demonstrations.
“You’re going to attack the police and you’re going to jail… it doesn’t matter where you came from, how you got here, or what the movement tells you,” Patel wrote on Saturday. “If local police don’t back our men and women with a light blue line, then (FBI).”
