Taraji P. Henson Born in Washington, DC on September 11, 1970, she later studied acting at Howard University and became popular in the public eye after appearing in co-star Terrence Howard in the Oscar-nominated film Hustle & Flow. Taraji and Terrence later cooperated again in the Fox series, “The Empire.” She won the Screen Actors Guild Award for her role in “Hustle and Flow.” She later appeared in “The Strange Case of Benjamin Button” with Brad Pitt, winning an Academy Award nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category. She received much praise for her “Empire,” which features a primarily African-American cast, and tells the story of a successful rapper played by Terence, his wife, Cookie – played by Taraji – three sons. She won the Golden Globe for her role in the drama and has also been nominated for Emmy.
