Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) intelligence agency issued a harsh warning that “cooperation with the Mossad will bring the greatest legal punishment,” and effectively issued the death penalty for communications in support of Israel’s attacks on Iran.

In a statement shared on social media telegram early today, the revolutionary security guard cited Articles 6, 7, 8 and 10 of the Act on the Fighting of the Hostile Action of the Zionist Regime.

“All forms of intelligence reporting cooperation with the Mossad, interaction or exchange of information with official or informal individuals affiliated with the Zionist regime, as well as cultural, media or propaganda activities, or assistance in supporting, promoting or legalizing the Zionist regime, are considered criminal offences,” the statement said, “we face the greatest punishment.”

Babak Kamiar, head of the Persian desk at Euronows, said the impact was to silence the local media.

According to Kamiar, the greatest punishment shown in the sentence is “certainly the death penalty.”

“From this point on, nothing will be made public except praise for the administration. Of course, that was something that could be expected,” Kamiar said.

“This includes international media with correspondents in Iran, and most of our information relies on domestic sources, making our work even more difficult,” Kamiar added.

According to Kamiar of Euronows, state-run, semi-official and IRGC-related media have already had strict control over the flow of information, but now the situation is expected to get worse.
