President Donald Trump’s administration is considering significantly expanding travel restrictions to include citizens of 36 countries and adding to existing travel bans in 12 countries.

“The (state) department has identified 36 countries that may be recommended for a full or partial suspension of entry if they do not meet the benchmarks and requirements established within 60 days,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an internal memo from the US diplomats. A familiar source reviewed the notes and stated that the discussion was ongoing.
