If you want to lose countless hours in a survival game, you’re spoiled by recent choices. Rust continues to control steam. Subnautica remains a genre classic. Minecraft overseen the visuals more than a decade later. But for my money V Rising It remains a typical choice. With the Oakveil Update Invader finally released earlier this year, the Vampire-focused game has become an experience I’ve always dreamed of. However, with version 1.1 coming out in Wild, developer Stunlock Studios is finally seeing what’s next:
Stunlock’s journey with V Rising has been a long one. The game started early access in 2022, with a full release of 1.0 two years later. Since then, the absolute giant invaders of Oakveil’s update have transformed it into one of the best vampire games ever made.
If Oakveil hasn’t played V Rising since he dropped, please allow me to bury you. There is a new Oakveil Woodlands Biome, three more weapons, seven spells, and the Fuse and Reforge system. Stanlock remakes the battle with adjusted statistics, gear rebalance, and blood type overhauled statistics. You can also build a custom combat arena in the castle or store all the stolen items (arguably) in the Ministry of Finance. Whether you’re a newly rising Bloodsoccer or take a little break, the Oakvale invaders make time to return now.
However, a new blog post outlines potential plans for Stunlock Studios: The team says V Rising 1.1 marks “the vision they set to achieve,” but that’s not all.
“With this latest update, we developed core content that was set for initial distribution,” writes Stunlock Studios. “Now, with our vision being realized, we can not turn our gaze backwards, but rather pull the dark universe inwards to even higher heights, anti-mining about what that means exactly.
“Before you finally decide what’s next, you’ll need to go back to the basement to work in the shadows. Experiment, learn and imagine things that aren’t yet imagined. It’s a familiar job and an invitation to a thrilling challenge.
It remains to be seen exactly this means. Perhaps Stanlock wants to “elevate the dark universe” with another extension or DLC. Perhaps the team is considering a new vampire experience in the same universe. Given that the world of V Rising is called Vardoran and that’s what the team calls, I think Stunlock might want to keep the V Rising Train moving in some way.
I’m waiting for the next one from Stunlock, but you can check out the best survival games and RPGs available on your PC right now.
