But like vampire survivors, you have no control over how your army acts and moves. Instead, choose upgrades, buy units, pick up booty and improve your army. You can also unlock perks you choose at the start of a run, giving you powerful abilities and shaping the strategy for that run. However, Skull Horde has some subtleties too. Staying on the dungeon floor longer will allow you to find more booty and money, but the enemies will also be more powerful.
But it’s the aesthetic that Skull Horde really sings. The pixel sprite is detailed, but is easy to read at a glance. Seeing the army of the military of meat has the same aesthetic appeal as the best RTS games. The crisp, guitar-rich soundtrack completes the atmosphere.
