Gov. Kathy Hochul directed New York electricity authorities to “start immediately with the assessment of technology, business models and locations” to develop the state’s first nuclear power plant for the first time in 50 years, developing the country’s first nuclear power plant for the first time in over 15 years, and launched the expected slate of similar nuclear energy initiatives across the country.
“To control the energy future in New York, we must embrace a wealth of energy policies centered around energy independence and supply chain security,” Hochul said in a June 23rd announcement that it had been announced at the Niagara Power Project near Lewiston, New York.
