for Escape from Tarkov Players, wipes are part of the experience and part of it. Even if you crush your stash so that you’re overflowing with amazing gear, weapons and items, the wipes ensure that no one will stay above forever. However, in the next Tarkov Wipe in July, the Battlestate game is doing something a little different. As revealed in the latest roadmap of Extract Shooter, players will soon experience a “hardcore wipe”. This can mean an even more difficult reset than usual.
Currently, there is no official explanation from the Battle State for what involves a hardcore escape from a turcof wipe, but the most supported theory at the moment is that it brings some of the conditions and limitations of a “hardcore” playstyle. Tarkov doesn’t have a real hardcore mode, but top players trying to challenge themselves can live by a voluntary hardcore ruleset with limited access or access to the flea market, Scablanc, and other things that essentially make the already difficult experience even more difficult. “Hardcore” wipes may require similar restrictions on all players, allowing everyone to reset their accounts.
Tarkov deserves a spot on our best FPS games list for its relentless realism – that’s what players are coming back – but this hardcore wipe carves things for everyone, not just for those who choose to punish more to play the game.
With the Tarkov 1.0 release date set to drop later this year, I wonder if this is one of the last Early Access Harleys, or even a last minute experiment to see how players receive more brutal wipes.
Tarkov’s escape from hardcore wipes is scheduled to reduce the time it has in July 2025 with update 0.16.8.0. According to Battlestate’s roadmap, the update adds new prestige levels and other customization options.
The roadmap then shows that the final early access update will arrive in August. It features in-game events, full “synchronization” between Tarkov and its multiplayer spinoff EFT arena, and optimizations for coastlines, ground zeros, and exchanges. If it’s on the way, it appears to run clearly to 1.0.
