Senate Rejects War Powers Resolution That Sought to Limit Trump’s Authority Over Iran Strikes

On June 27, the Senate rejected a resolution submitted by Sen. Tim Kane (D-Va.). This calls for immediate withdrawal of funding and support for Iran-related military activities, if not approved by Congress.

Kane’s resolution, a response to the US bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities at the beginning of June, dived into the floor after a ceasefire in the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran. Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA.) joined the Republicans and voted on the measure.
