When I played it for the first time butterI was immediately hooked. The first person dark fantasy RPG cleverly blends dark souls and fate into something completely new and is worth playing if you haven’t done it yet. At the heart of it, Voin is a video game about cutting enemies into ribbons. Like Doom the Dark Ages, you hack through monsters and amputate limbs. I’ve called Voin “Boomer Thrasher” on multiple occasions, and I think this fits perfectly into the game.
Currently, Voin’s solo developer Nikita Sozidar has released a new PermaFrost Update, making it easy for the game to join the list of the best RPGs on PC today. The first is a new area of the patch: Grimm Mill Expense. This frozen biome is absolutely enormous, with a variety of new activities, enemies and even all-new weather conditions. Voin has always had a sweeping view that has embarrassed Anor Londo, and this new realm continues its tradition.
However, not everything is a quiet view, as there is a range of deadly enemies to oppose them. Towering snow giants and ice golems will get in your way, but once you’ve mastered a Voin avoiding mechanic, you can easily drop them down. The spread of Grimmer Meal also features new items and consumables.
The PermaFrost update also provides the first step into Voin’s quest system. You will meet new NPCs, Aurelia, and work with them to access dungeons and story bosses. Exploring will bring you to Voin’s brand new leveling system, making it easier. From now on, instead of going back to the portal and spending your revenue and leveling up, you will automatically get the level. This means you’re always stronger by defeating enemies and completing quests, and keeping the Voin gameplay flow uninterrupted.
Voin’s early access journey is one of consistent changes and improvements, and permafrost is no exception. Sozidar already revamped Voin with its first major update earlier this year, and we are sure there will be more in the future.
