US Imposes Fresh Sanctions Targeting Iran Oil Trade, Hezbollah

WASHINGTON – The US on Thursday imposed sanctions on Iranian oil smuggling networks disguised as Iraqi oil and Hezbollah-controlled financial institutions, the Treasury Department said.

The network of companies run by Iraqi British National Salim Ahmed has said since at least 2020 that it has purchased and shipped billions of dollars worth of Iranian oil, which has been disguised or combined with Iraqi oil.
