Last week’s slow gusts of game cancellations and layoffs by Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios Cuts did not affect the company’s first-party studio. Third-party developers, etc. Romero Gamewas affected. Studio formed by destiny Co-creator John Romero announced that funds for the upcoming Triple A FPS game have been withdrawn, with dozens of developers saying they have been let go. However, there is a faint hope of hope for the Romero Game and its new project as the studio has just released a new statement that made it clear that the studio is not completely closed and that other publishers are “interested in helping them pass the finish line.”

The Xbox cut is truly a wild AV. Hundreds of developers will lose their jobs, and several highly anticipated projects like Zenimax Online Studios’ The Perfect Dark Reboot, Rare’s Everwild, and the ambitious sci-fi game have all been shelved. Romero Games has not explicitly confirmed that Xbox Game Studios is in favor of the new project, but the cancellation of the accidental timing of the upcoming game and claims from employees strongly suggested that it was affected. Little was known outside of first-person shooter games, but Romero’s reputation for helping to shape games like Doom and Quake was enough to become one of the most exciting upcoming PC games.

Despite some claims from employees (and subsequent reports by the media that the studio will close and close all workforce, Romer Games has issued a statement clarifying it has not been closed and is currently in discussions to preserve the project.

“Romero’s game has not been closed and we are doing everything in our power to ensure it doesn’t lead to it,” the statement said. “If not, any suggestions are practically wrong. In fact, we were in the studio today to discuss our next steps with our team.

“We have been contacted by several publishers interested in helping the game reach the entire finish line and are currently evaluating those opportunities.”

This new FPS game has been in work since 2022 and has not reached the stage where Romero Games fully revealed or showed off the gameplay, but it is expected that there has been a significant amount of progress at that point. Romero’s reputation for creating the incredible Shooter, the Triple A range, and the fact that Xbox was originally forced enough to support it, makes an interesting prospect for these new publishers. Hopefully, a proper deal will hit. Because it can potentially save some or all of the work that will be lost in Romero’s game.
