That was especially for a few days I died in the daytime – Certainly, it’s not a stranger who will hit the road. Criticism of several buggy patches and problematic perks, as well as the action-interactive kill switch system, has made community sentiment sour despite the recent release of The Walking Dead crossover. Now, Action has issued a statement apologizing to DBD fans for recent issues, pledging to review and overhaul the kill switch.

“We’ve followed your conversation very closely about the state of the game these days, and I agree that it’s not where we all want it,” the studio admits to being at the top of this new statement. “The latest release introduced a new frustrating issue that has been distracting me from the fun of the dead from sunlight. I acknowledged this and wanted to take part in the steps I’ll take to resolve these issues in the short term.”

Wow – a strong message of accountability. While it takes a real catastrophe to see daytime daylight being charged from our list of best horror games, there is no denying that recent updates have been in trouble. But what are you actually doing to change things?

Well, much of the rage these days comes from its kill switch system. The kill switch essentially turns off broken, buggy, or misused gameplay mechanics to ensure that the overall health of the game is not affected, but the behavior works with fixes. Recently, the community has been asking for street perks to be banned due to exploits. The action acknowledged the player’s report, but it was revealed a few days later that Streetwise had not beaten the game and therefore “did not meet the criteria” to be disabled by Kill Switch. This led to confusion and criticism. What are the actual criteria and how are exploited perks not eligible?

In addition to today’s statement, the action finally ran through the street kill switch and flicked (and the final stand and blood rush of fellow perks) revealed that some hotfixes for other tweak issues are on the way. He also pledges to overhaul the kill switch system and become more transparent about future standards.

“As a result of feedback and internal discussions on the same topic, we will soon be restructuring our internal kill switch process and explaining community sentiments more agile,” says the action. “We hope that it doesn’t match how we use this tool and we want to improve this.

“Once you settle for a new process, you can clearly communicate your standards and trigger a kill switch so that your expectations are better in line with what we do.

“Finally, I wanted to address the comments the team made about Kill Switch and Streetwise. I apologized for dismissing your feelings about the importance of dealing quickly on the streets and fanning even more of the flames of already tense topics.”

Washy apology and “We’re Listening!” posts are commonplace in the game, and the actions dodged the ratio here with a candid and honest message to DBD fans. It’s still not clear how long it takes to review the kill switch system and the new standards are revealed, but given how much headaches are causing it at the moment, it should be a high priority.
