With a 3-14 finish in 2024, the Titans scored the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. They chose Miami QB Cam Ward, who played in his first preseason game over the weekend.

Tennessee lost 29-7 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During the first preseason game of 2025, Titan’s RB Tyjae Spears suffered from an ankle sprain. Director Brian Callahan said the 24-year-old is expected to miss the rest of the preseason. They hope that the spear is ready to go to the first week of Sunday, September 7th.

How much time will Tyjae Spears miss for the Tennessee Titan?

In the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Titan selected Rb Tyjae’s spear from Tulane. As a rookie in 2023, Spears was a backup to Derrick Henry. He carried the ball 100 times for 453 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, the Spears added 52 catches for 385 yards and received one touchdown. In 2024, Spears missed five games for the Titans due to injuries.

He played 12 of his 17 games and got off to a single start. His second year of production slid for the Titan. That’s because the team brought Tony Pollard in and made him a featureback. The Spears had 84 carry last season compared to Pollard’s 260. Tennessee’s first official depth chart listed Pollard as a starter.

On Saturday, Titans played their first preseason game of 2025. They were on the road to face the Buccaneers. Just before halftime, RB Tyjae Spears caught a pass for 13 yards and worked it out. In that play, he suffered from an ankle sprain. The spear limped out of the field and placed in the cart. After the game, Spears left in walking boots and was on crutches.

Brian Callahan spoke this offseason about making a more balanced rushing offense in 2025. Tonri Pollard had 176 carries in 2024 than the Tyges Peers. The Tyges Peers were injured on Saturday and missed the rest of Tennessee’s preseason. It’s been crushed for Spears looking for a bounce back season. The team hopes the Spears will be prepared for week one of the 2025 season.
