White House Orders Review of Smithsonian Exhibits Ahead of Nation’s 250th Birthday

On Tuesday, the White House ordered an internal review of selected Smithsonian museums and exhibitions, ensuring that all public content coincides with President Donald Trump’s instructions to celebrate US exceptionalism.

In a letter sent to Smithsonian Facilities Director Ronnie Bunch III, the White House outlined the steps the organization expects to take in reviews, including a survey of websites, social media content and educational materials, “to assess tone, historical framing, alignment with American ideals.”
