Ahead of the 2025 season, the Browns added several QBs to their roster. Through trade with the Eagles, the team acquired Kenny Pickett. In the 2025 NFL Draft, Cleveland chose Dilongabriel and Shedale Sanders.

Additionally, the team signed 40-year-old Joe Flacco into a one-year, $4 million deal. The incentive could bring his deal closer to $13 million next season. On Monday, August 18th, the Browns nominated their starting QB in 2025. Surprisingly, the team goes with veteran QB Joe Flakco. This will mark his first week’s start since the 2022 season.

The Browns are named Joe Flacco as the starting QB for 2025.

In the seventh week of the 2024 season, Browns QB Desshaun Watson shed Achilles’ tears. Cleveland knew Watson wasn’t ready to start in 2025. So the team added four new QBs to their roster this offseason. This includes Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. As of Monday afternoon, the Browns have named Joe Flaco the starting QB for Week 1 and Bengals QB.

Flacco returned to the Browns in 2025 for their second stint with the team. In 2023, Joe Flaco began the season on the sofa. Eventually, he received a call from Cleveland after being injured in QB. The veteran started five games for the Browns, making it 4-1. He helped the team reach the playoffs, which helped him rejuvenate his career.

Joe Flaco will start his first game of week since 2022 when he was with the Jets. The former Super Bowl champion played eight games for the Colts last season, starting six times. It’s no surprise that Cleveland has made Joe Flaco the starter. The NFL Insider reported that the rest of the Browns’ QB depth chart is still being determined. There are still preseason games that could help Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, or Chedure Sanders win the backup job.
