"Like heavy metal soul" Lords of the Fallen 2 is a "Declaration of war"

The fallen lord of 2023 had no strongest start. Even your own developers will admit it. CI Games creative portfolio strategist David Valjalo tells Gamescom that its launch is “Rocky” with “some technical issues,” but we assure the team has learned from their experience. “We’ve gone far more than that, offering what we originally promised,” he says. The game has received over 50 patches since its release and reached its peak with version 2.0 released this summer. However, CI games want to get out of blocks faster The fallen lord 2.

Developers do so thanks to “player-first philosophy.” Lords of the Fallen 2 doesn’t get on all the advice from every player, but instead aggregates it to see what the entire community thinks is important. “Our fans are very vocal about what they want in their next game,” he says.

Valjaro believes the trust and maturity of working with such fallen fanbase lords is key. “The CI Games are still the captain of the ship,” he says. “We still want to create the game we want to make. We just want people to give advice, guidance and steering with us.” If Lords of the Fallen 2 surpasses its predecessor and becomes one of the best Souls-like games, we need to balance that fan feedback with the developer’s intentions.

It is noteworthy that some of this feedback took the form of more questionable polls, including stereotypes about binary gender. CEO Marek Tyminski cited the same player-first philosophy when he announced his decision to implement these changes. CI Games also cited “social or political agendas” as a possible reason to consider “social or political agendas” as “many famous releases are poorly performed,” and to suggest that players enjoyment is minimized.

However, not all studio decisions are shown in X. Valjalo details some of the team’s creative processes, saying, “One of the mantras we have internally is making heavy metal soul pickpockets.” Part of this involves applying the Metallica logo to screenshots of ongoing builds. If it looks like a legal Metallica album, pass. “It’s really one of the litmus tests.”

However, this superficial layer is not the only thing that is heavy metal. Lords of the Fallen 2 “is a very Old Testament. It’s Fire and Bird Rock,” explains Valjalo. “This sequel is dark and darker.”

If you can’t find out from the Bible trailer, Lords of the Fallen draws a line in the sand. The first game was confused, and the lore and world building were complicated, but the developers worked hard to shape it into the game. CI Games feels it knows what it’s doing now and believes it knows that fans want the series.

“[Lords of the Fallen 2]has more personality,” Valjalo says. “It’s a little more dangerous. It’s about how we declare war and really confident in it.”
