Exclusive: Picturehouse Entertainment has won the UK Ireland rights to IRA Sachs. Peter Hujar’s Daystarring Ben Whishaw and Rebecca Hall.
The Sundance and Berlin titles will be released in the Territory on January 2, 2026, after performing at the BFI London Film Festival in October.
Picturehouse acquires UK and Ireland rights from North American rights Janus Films and is a partner in release strategies and marketing campaigns.
The film follows a 1974 conversation recorded between photographer Peter Hujal and writer Linda Rosenkrantz. Their talk that day was set entirely in Rosenkrantz’s Manhattan apartment, focusing on one of the 24-hours of the life of Hujar, a well-known uncompromising artist who is one of the most important figures in New York’s iconic cultural scenes of the 1970s and ’80s. The film is based on a book of the same name by Rosenkrantz.
Jordan Drake and Jonah will serve as American producers of production alongside two Berlin-based films. Fred Bal and Aaron Craig co-produced.
Sax and Whishaw have previously cooperated with Sax’s 2023 Sundance Premiere aisledistributed by Mbi.

The film is complementary colour and is associated with We Are Films and Materia Cinema in its production and Primo content presentations.
