New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani on Friday defended his decision to rescind more than a dozen executive orders issued by his predecessor, Eric Adams, in the wake of federal indictments for illegal campaign contributions in 2024.

The order, which was rescinded Thursday, included an order allowing federal agents, including immigration agents, to use offices at Rikers Island, the city’s main jail. This directive was later rejected by the court.
