Locarno Film Festival’s industry program Locarno Pro is launching Locarno Investment Community, a new initiative aimed at connecting independent film funders with the European film industry.

The first edition of the initiative, which will be held from August 7-10, will involve film funders in industry events and networking opportunities, and will have access to the festival’s programs.

The program is designed in collaboration with Oxbelly, a European nonprofit based in Greece, which holds an annual initiative for US film investors and philanthropists interested in learning about and getting involved in fundraising in the European co-production market.

The Locarno Investment Community welcomes both experienced funders and newcomers who are passionate about supporting independent films.

“We’ve been working hard to get the most out of our business,” said Markus Duffner, director of Locarno Pro. “The long-term vision of the initiative is to attract a cohort of film funders in the US, Europe and Switzerland to ensure sustained involvement and investment in independent filmmaking.”
