Daniel Kaluuya, Rodrigo Sorogoyen join 2025 Cannes Critics’ Week jury

Spanish film director Rodrigo Sorologen has been appointed ju umpire of the year Parallel selection of festivals dedicated to the first and second features running on May 1st, Cannes “Critics” week4-22.

Sorogoen was forced to resign from his position prior to last year’s festival due to personal circumstances, and was replaced by French producer Sylvie Piaratt.

Joining Sorogoen in the 2025 ju-decision will be Oscar-winning British actor Daniel Kaluuya, Moroccan journalist Jihane Bouguelin, French-Canadian photography director Jose Descheys and Indonesian producer Yulia Evina Bhara.

Included in Sorogoen’s film beastIt premiered at Cannes Premier Strand in 2022 and won nine Goya awards, including Best Director and Best Film. 2019 Drama mother; 2018 Thriller region; Romantic drama of 2013 Stockholm.

“Critics Week clearly demonstrates support and beliefs for the younger generation of filmmakers,” Sorogoen said, describing the section as “a place to launch and strengthen the careers of young filmmakers.”

Critics Week will announce its 2025 lineup on April 14th.
