Evgeniy evstratiy is a highly established concept artist who works with Riot Games, Manticore Games and the most promising Valve, according to his LinkedIn Bio. Flicking through his social media and his art station pages will reveal many fantasy and sci-fi character art. However, it’s deadlock that makes Evstratiy seem to be working on Valve, not half-life projects. Nevertheless, in an interview with him about the Russian-speaking CG Voices podcast, he suggests that a sequel to the much-anticipated FPS game may be in the works.
“I don’t know if they’re allowed to say this,” Evstratiy said, according to an English translation provided by Leaker ‘Stannis_loyalist’ on Half Life Subreddit, “But I was in the room where they made a half-life 3. But I didn’t see the actual development itself.
Later, he adds: “As I understand, making Half-Life 3 is not their first attempt. So the fact that they’re doing it now is not a guarantee that they’ll actually make (or release) it.”
It is unclear exactly when Evstratiy was on Valve HQ, but according to his LinkedIn profile, he has been working with the company since February 2023, so it could be a voluntary point within the last two years.
As the concept artist himself mentions, seeing what he believes to be Half Life 3, it is not a guarantee that it is under active development and it will see the light of day.
However, the data-aggregated reference to “HLX” – considered the codename for a new half-life game – has recently continued to appear in codes for other valve games in Deadlock. So there’s real hope that something is currently working on.
