While expanding overhauls and renewals New World It was intended to reestablish MMO as one of the genre leaders. The initial excitement for that was withered. At least in Steam, players have gradually grown tails since the first Aeternum spike last year, but the upcoming Season 8 update of the game introduces high-risk, high-reward gameplay in the new hardcore world, and has also tested a lot of new PVP experiences.
While Season 7 was about a seasonal world focused on PVPs that keep players on their toes at all times, New World Aeternum Season 8 (Divide of the Divide Season 8) is about survival, high stakes and lightning progression. The hardcore seasonal world is a new kind of limited experience in Amazon’s MMO, and you’ll see you dive straight into as a “flallen” character. The goal here is to chegate death as much as possible. The more you survive, the more rewards the elite will be.
But as soon as you die, you lose your fallen status and are unable to earn these rewards. There will still be other items to unlock you, and there will still be incentives to play as your hardcore experience will be easier after death. However, it is designed to be a true test of skill and survivability.
Another attraction of these hardcore seasonal worlds is that the progression is extremely rapid. “In this limited world, leveling and gearing are faster than ever, followed by a completely different, streamlined main quest line,” says Amazon. “The limit on artifact equipment has been lifted, allowing players to power up more than ever before.”
Season 8 again has a big focus on PVP, with several preview events arriving during the season, trialling new modes and maps. There is 10V10 Capture The Flag mode. This adds new dimensions to the PVP gameplay featuring Powerups and Jump Pads. A new 3V3 arena map has been unveiled. An experimental battlefield for Outpost Rush has also been announced. This will disable gear perks and everyone will disable cranks up to a Max Gear score, putting things in a more uniform arena.
Elsewhere in Season 8, Coral Split enters the fight as a new forward post base rush map. It is said to be a vibrant, marine themed arena designed to highlight verticality, tactical lateral routes and intense Center Fort Crush.
It also has new barbershop features for additional character customizations, seven new artifacts, a new season pass and more. You can find the full announcement post here.
According to Amazon, New World Aeternum season 8 will drop on Tuesday, May 18th.
