Myriad launching Cannes sales on ‘Queen Of The Ring’ with Emily Bett Rickards, Josh Lucas, Walton Goggins

Exclusive: Myriad Pictures will begin international sales at Cannes Queen of the Ringa biography of pioneering female professional wrestler Mildred Burke starring Emily Bett Rickers, Josh Lucas, Walton Goggins and Tyler Posey.

Myriad founder Kirk D’Amico and his team will be screening the film in the market. Ash Avildsen directs from the script by Avildsen and Alston Ramsay based on the book Queen of the Ring: Sex, Muscles, Diamonds, and American Legends Pulitzer Prize winner Jeff Lean.

The essential value film features Burke’s career by opposing social norms in the 1940s and 1950s as a professional wrestler, raising his son on the road, overcoming her protege’s death, and enduring a fierce relationship with manager and former muscle Billy Wolff (Lucas).

Burke became the first woman to get the best bill than men, supporting other women in the sport, taking part in the first women’s “shoot match” (real battle without script) for title fights, becoming the first million-dollar female athlete.

Supported cast includes Frances Caius Stwood, Calabouono, Deborah Ann Wal, Damaris Lewis and Gavin Casa Legno.

Avildsen, Aimee School, Isen Robbins and BD Gunnel are producers, with Kelly Koep, Jeff Leen, Jim Ross and Anthony Mastromauro as executive producers. Sumerian film released a film in the US in March.

D’Amico said, “Emily Bett Rickers gives an intriguing portrayal of real-life Mildred Burke, who became the world’s best-paid professional athlete of her time. The film focuses on Burke’s battle for independence from the shady businessmen around her.
