I’m always happy to revisit Dark Souls 2. It’s definitely a black sheep in fromsoftware’s work, but the tendency to prefer the design decisions of off-kilters is back. Rich life gems, meaningless levels of layout, and adaptability statistics are just some of the strange choices that make DS2 different from others. If you’ve never played it, or if you’re a flashy flashy guy coming back to the kingdom of Drang for another round of flashy, now is the perfect time. One of the most prolific modders in the Soulslike Community has turned to Dark Souls 2, looking to change the game forever.
If you’ve never heard of “Yui,” you definitely know their work. Their seamless cooperative mod is the most popular on Elden Ring and has recently adapted to the first and third games of The Dark Souls Trilogy. Seamless co-ops have made each soul-like game endlessly better with friends, and now Yui is coming for Dark Souls 2.
Dark Souls 2 Seamless Co-op brings Yui’s inevitable creation to FromSoftware’s most split-up game, and we can’t wait. Yui’s goal with mods, and all the other iterations of a seamless cooperative, is to make online play simpler. Multiplayer sessions become persistently active, rather than sending online spirit home as usual after player deaths, boss encounters, teleports, and other actions. There are no fog walls to prevent multiplayer progress. It also allows all players to sync everything to make jumps easier than ever.
Other Yui mods also have optional difficulty modifiers, and Dark Souls 2 is no exception. So if you want to increase the health and damage of your enemies, you can do it if you want to set up a friendly fire or make a PVP invasion on every turn and go through all of your DS2.
You can play other seamless cooperative mods from Yui, but you’ll end up waiting for Dark Souls 2. “I’m working on this project and maintaining and developing other mods.”
With the release date of Elden Ring Nightrign around the corner, there’s no better way to prepare than experiencing as many Dark Souls as possible with friends. Seamless cooperatives make it easier than ever, abolishing them by placing summoning signs every time you die, and constantly reuniteing friends. It would be the only way I could play Software games with friends, and download 9 million only for the Elden Ring version, many others agree.
