Toei Company readies first English-language live-action feature ‘Dear Stranger’

Exclusive: Japanese Toe Company set up a family suspense drama Dear stranger As the first live-action English feature in decades and the first international collaboration.

The project, directed by Japan’s Titsuya Mariko, is part of TOEI’s global expansion growth, as described in the TOEI New Wave Plan in 2023. Jokers Films is installed as a French distributor.

Dear stranger Made in Tanaka’s Tokyo-based Logi film Aisey Shu and toe-based Tanaka, both China-based Liang Ying and Julia Xu, both co-produced Jokers film Manuel Chiche.

Among its supporters are Jlox+ and Taiwan’s Creative Content Agency (Taicca) Jlox+ and Roji Inc and Toei Company, which support Taiwan’s International Joint Funding Program 2.0.
