John Gisby, Chairman The UK Screen Forum will resign later this year, nine years after this role.

The process of selecting Gisby’s successor as the chair of the invited-only body will begin soon, hoping that the next chair will be installed in the fall. It’s a paid position.

Gisby is relocating to Canada on both sides of the Atlantic to expand his advice and coaching business, Swipefinder.

During Gisby’s postal age, the UK Screen Forum was rebranded from the UK Screen Advisory Council and expanded membership to include policy roundtables curated with all screen sector interests, key global decision makers, commissioned original research and helped shape the public policy framework.

Gisby previously worked for Video Hosting Service Vevo, Immersive Theater Company Punchdrunk, BBC, Yahoo and Channel 4.

“We are proud to be involved in helping such a broad and diverse group of leaders tackle the complex challenges our sector faces,” Gisby said.

“The outcome of these discussions is important. Our industry is at the heart of British culture, society and democracy. They are the foundation of our soft power and the key engine of economic growth and regeneration.”

Gisby’s predecessors as organisation chair include Adam Singer, David Elstein, Richard Attenborough and Harold Wilson.
