The defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, will be holding their bitter NFC East Rival, the Dallas Cowboys, at the league’s first Thursday night soccer primetime opener.
The NFL has confirmed that it will take place on Thursday, September 4th at 8:20pm ET and will air on NBC.
The game takes place in Philadelphia’s Lincoln financial sector, celebrating the tradition of starting the NFL season at home to the reigning champions.
Eagles vs Cowboys rival
The league would not have been able to choose a more intense rivalry to start the season. Eagles – The Cowboys feud is one of the most intense matches in the NFL, backed by decades of field conflict, and often leads to off-field confusion.
In fact, their rivalry reached the public’s attention as it reached a thrill during the December 2023 match, with crowd brawls exploding at AT&T Stadium, and fans from both teams clashed in the concourse in a Sunday night showdown.
That game ended with a decisive Cowboys victory, but Philadelphia turned the script in 2024 and dominated both contests last season.
The Eagles will outperform Dallas by 75-13, and will continue to control when the two teams meet in the first week of the 2025 season.
