Dabika of Bangon Pee Mac She plays the grandma Warranat, an 80-year-old grandmother, and after disappearing for half a century, she suddenly returns like a woman in her 30s. However, her return brings a horrific haunt to her family, with her 18-year-old granddaughter being destined to be the next heir to the devil. The story is based on a classic Thai novel, previously adapted to three hit TV dramas and was first receiving a feature film treatment. The project is in the scripting stage where Bangjong is a co-writer. Pre-production of large-scale features is expected to begin in the third quarter.
Bangjong said he carried the story with him since he was a child and reread it during the pandemic. “At the heart of it, it’s a story about the power, legacy and darkness we inherit,” he said. “It’s a Thai story, but it speaks to what international audiences long for on scale and refinement.”
