“It’s about a dysfunctional divorced couple that can’t stand each other,” said Rattrey, who said Banderas would play his father. “The only thing they agree to is that they must love their teenage daughter and unite for a very uncomfortable mission.
“Not only our biological relatives, but all those who have chosen to include in our loved ones circles, all those who know we can rely on and rely on times of crisis, explore what we mean by our ‘family’,” Styler said.
“It’s also a love letter to the NHS,” added Rattray. “When Trudie and I choose a project, we tend to balance films that have an interesting but strong social message.”
The romantic family comedy is based on the scripts of Kamille Griffin and Chloe King. King initially placed the project in the US. However, Griffin reset in the UK.

This production coincides with the recent migration from New York to its home country by British-born Latrey himself. The project will utilize the UK’s Independent Film Tax Credit (IFTC).
“That’s why this project could happen. It’s one of the best tax credits in the world,” Rattrey said.
Maven continues to have a New York presence, with Styler primarily based in the city. Rattray said he returned to the UK for a combination of personal and professional reasons.
“I have two daughters. I grew up in the UK and I thought it was a great, safe environment to raise them. I have been making independent films for the past 20 years. Production costs are steadily increasing, but the value of the film is stagnating.”
She continued. “My whole career has been making films in the US. I love making films in New York, but the cost of living in New York has increased dramatically.”
Johansson’s directorial debut Eleanor the Great shot In New York. Maven fell in love with the script, being sent out the project by US funding funding the Pinky Promise. Latrey previously worked with Johansson, who produced the anthology. New York, I love you, Johansson led one of the segments.
“When I read it Eleanor, Scarlett was the first person to come to mind,” Rattrey said. “She’s one of the most talented people I’ve ever worked for. She’s so definitive and knows exactly what she wants.”
Maven’s Slate focuses on female filmmakers. “We have been able to work with Maggie Betts, Kamille Griffin, Sally El Hosaini and Sarah Colangelo over the past few years, and while these women are all very talented, making a film is not easy for all of them.
Maven has a project in development with Griffin and Betts. The company is backed by Calculus Capital and plans to expand its UK operations across film and television. Rattray is optimistic for the future. “I think it’s a moment of opportunity for small production companies that are agile and can find low-budget ways to make films.”
