Leon Draisaitl Suggests Pressure May Have Been Too Much For Toronto Maple Leafs Following NHL Playoff Exit

Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draysightle made the subtle suggestion that it could depend on the Toronto Maple Leafs’ NHL playoff exits unable to handle pressure.

How did the Toronto Maple Leafs lose to the Florida Panthers?

The NHL playoff battle between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers was decided in the seventh game after both franchises went to level six games later.

After the opening 2 match, the Canadian side boasted a 2-0 lead and looked comfortable in that position before losing the next three games. Game 3 ended with a 2-0 shutout, and Game 4 ended with the Panthers 6-1.

The Maple Leafs were able to bring series levels with their own shutout victory in Game 6, but were swept with emphasis in Game 7 after losing 6-1 again.

While it’s hard to pick one reason why maple leaves were best for the Panthers, poor performance from stars like Auston Matthews and William Nylander has costly.

Nylander failed to register 1 point after Game 3, causing a sloppy error on defense. Most notably, his mistake of allowing the Panthers to find a winner in overtime in Game 3.

Like Justin Bieber, who put a heartfelt message on Instagram after his defeat, even with the star name in attendance, the Maple Leafs seemed to have exhausted steam at home and lost their final two matches at Scottia Bank Arena.

What did Leon Draysithle say about the Toronto Maple Leafs?

Leon Draysightle will take part in his third NHL Playoff Western Conference Finals after the Edmonton Oilers won a dominant 4-1 series victory over the Vegas Golden Knights.

Being the highest paid player in the NHL, Dry Eitle’s performance is under the microscope, and so far his performance in the NHL playoffs has been fantastic, contributing 16 goals (5G + 11a) in 11 appearances.

Despite his clear quality, Draysightle never won the Stanley Cup and is about to change that in 2025 and needs to be at the top of his game against the Dallas Star.

Before the Germans could deflect the focus on the upcoming series against Dallas, he was asked about the pressure for the Maiden Stanley Cup and the Oilers’ sixth victory.

The 29-year-old appeared to be undergoing subtle excavations towards the Toronto Maple Leafs in his answer (though I don’t say their names directly).

He said: “ Of course, there is a lot of pressure here in Canada. Media, fans, and expectations – that’s exactly what it is. It’s a hockey country, starting with hockey and ending with hockey in this country.

“I don’t know if the team feels pressured by it. I’m not the right person to answer that, but we can handle it. We’re excited to go back to play and do our best.”
