Seven months after ending support on US territory, developer SGRA Studio checks out a free-to-play fantasy RPG Dragonheir: Silent God It is back in North America as part of a global “regeneration” that dramatically redesigns the game’s combat, progression, and pricing model. The number of players has reached over 10 million worldwide, but steam ratings have been “mixed” and in September 2024 service in the US was discontinued and games are no longer accessible on the valve platform. Now it’s finally back.
Dragonheir: This revival of Silent Gods comes after “a major change in the development team.” The grid-based strategic combat system has been completely overhauled, replacing the RPG’s old elemental affinity system with a new “comp” mechanic. This groups heroes into categories such as Summoning, Frost, Wild, Poison, Support, etc., and gives additional perks of bonds from similar types of characters.
In addition to these changes, SGRA promises “significant price reductions” and a more streamlined progression. The cost of the summons is reduced, and targeted banners allow for easy grabs of the characters you need, and the “more reasonable pathos system” must lower the stripes of bad absence.
Additionally, all heroes now increase their level at the same time. This means you don’t waste resources investing in people you decide not to use. Refinements previously used to unlock level milestones have been removed. Now you need to complete the courts to continue your progress.
The game’s world has been overhauled and there is a new pass funding option, along with the ability to skip past cutscenes if you’re struggling to get lost or prefer to get caught up in the action. There is also a Roguelike mode called The Ancestral Ruins. There you will fight random events and pick up various blessings as they progress.
Dragonheir: There is no date given when Silent Gods lands, but you can pre-register now to select rewards when they arrive. SGRA also points out that veteran players who have already invested time or money in the original will be given an additional bonus of the new version as a thank you.
