The incredible story of an embryo, created in 1994, is that the pregnant father is still an infant and was donated by the Christian “embryo adoption” agency. It’s remarkable and unthinkable.
MIT Technology Review shared exclusive on Thursday, July 30th. This is about a boy born last weekend. The child holds a new record of “the oldest baby.” Arrived on July 26th, Thaddeus Daniel Pierce developed from embryos frozen after 30 and a half years of storage.
“We had a rough birth, but we are both fine,” says his mother, Lindsay Pierce. “He’s so cold. We have this precious baby because we are in awe!” Lindsay and her husband Tim Pierce, who lives in London, Ohio, “adopted” embryos from the woman who created it in 1994.
The story began in the early 1990s.
“The baby has a 30-year-old sister,” she adds. Tim was a toddler when the embryo was first created.
The story begins in the early 1990s. Archeld had been trying to get pregnant for six years. She and her husband decided to try out IVF, a fairly new technology at the time.
In May 1994, they managed to create four embryos. One of them was transferred to Linda’s uterus. The result was a healthy baby girl. “I was very blessed to have a baby,” says Archeld. The remaining three embryos were frozen and stored in storage tanks.
That was 31 years ago. The healthy baby girl is currently a 30-year-old woman with a 10-year-old daughter. However, the other three embryos remained frozen within time.
“We didn’t go to that because we thought we were going to break the record,” Lindsay says. “We just wanted a baby.”
