In Week 10 of the 2025 season, the New York Giants had a 10-point lead with less than four minutes left. However, the team further extended its lead in the fourth quarter. They did it four times in 10 games.
After starting the season with 2 wins and 8 losses, the Giants’ owner made some changes. Head coach Brian Daboll was fired after four seasons in New York. Daboll led the team to the playoffs in his first year and won Coach of the Year in 2022. Since the start of the 2023 season, the Giants are 11-33. Brian Daboll had a record of 20-40-1 as head coach of the New York Giants.

Ahead of the 2022 season, the New York Giants did a deep cleaning. They hired Joe Schon as general manager and Brian Daboll as head coach. The two spent several seasons with Buffalo. Schoen was Brandon Beane’s assistant GM and Daboll was Buffalo’s offensive coordinator. During the 2022 season, the Giants went 9-7-1 and made the playoffs. The team also won its first playoff game with a Super 46 victory over the Patriots.
However, the three years leading up to the 2022 season have not been good for Brian Daboll. New York is 11-33 since the start of the 2023 season. That includes starting 6-11 in 2023, 3-14 in 2024 and 2-8 through 2025. Sources are reporting that Joe Schon will remain the Giants’ general manager. He is expected to remain with the team for the remainder of the season to help hire a new head coach.
Brian Daboll has been relieved of his duties. Mike Kafka will be named interim head coach.

In a joint statement with co-owner Steve Tisch, Giants owner John Mara said of Brian Daboll’s firing:
“The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing. We have not lived up to the expectations for this franchise,” Mara said. “We understand our fans’ frustrations and are committed to delivering a vastly improved product.” – John Mara
Assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will serve as New York’s interim head coach. Kafka has been with New York since the start of the 2022 season. He previously served as the Chiefs’ quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator. Mike Kafka has been a finalist for the head coaching job the past two seasons. This will be another test for the 38-year-old to become a future NFL head coach. Who will be the next head coach of the New York Giants?
