Germany has announced it is increasing Israeli-Jewish sites across its borders as concerns about potential attacks from Iran are growing. France has implemented similar measures.
Israeli Minister of Diaspora, Amichiay Chikli, spoke to the Euroneuz and warned that the threat to the Jewish community and the Israeli embassy is greater than ever.
“After striking the top leadership of Iran’s revolutionary security guards, it is clear that they want revenge and sprint on Israeli embassies.
“We are monitoring everything we can do based on OSINT, and obviously there are security services that work with foreign security services to ensure that the embassies, Jewish community centres are protected.”
Rising concern over protests in Belgium
The recent protest in Brussels has issued an alarm over the safety of the Belgian Jewish community.
At least 75,000 people participated in a “red line” protest against Israeli actions in Gaza on Sunday.
Chikuri expressed concern about the violence and anti-Semitism sentiment that appears during the march.
“We are very concerned about what is happening in Belgium right now. We see violent demonstrations. We see signs of “hopeful people” against Jewish leaders, rabbis on the streets of Belgium, and we see no action from Belgian authorities.
In response to Israel’s recent attacks on Iran, EU leaders are calling for restraint and diplomacy. The European Commission president reaffirmed Israel’s right to protect itself and protect its citizens, and urged all political parties to work towards a peaceful resolution.
