In 2024, Anthony Richardson began the year as a QB start. He played 11 of his 17 games due to injuries. Richardson missed 19 games in his first two NFL seasons.

His backup in 2024 was veteran QB Joeflaco. Indianapolis will not bring back Flacco in 2025. Instead, they signed former Giants first-round pick Daniel Jones into a one-year $14 million deal. According to NFL Insider, Richardson and Jones will be competing in the starting job next season.

Who will start with Colts QB in 2025?

On the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Colts selected QB Anthony Richardson from Florida. Although his college start-up experience was kept to a minimum, Richardson had all the tools to become a franchise QB. He is 6 feet 4, 245 pounds and can run a 4.43 40 yard dash. On top of that, his arm talent is there along with the top NFL QBs.

However, Richardson had to deal with injuries over his first two seasons. As a rookie, he only played four games for the Colts after requiring end-of-season shoulder surgery. He missed a total of 13 games that season. In his second year, Richardson played 11 of Indianapolis’ 17 games. He missed a total of six games due to injuries. Joe Flaco started the six games Richardson missed in 2024.

Next season, the Colts will not have a flacco on their roster. Instead, they signed a one-year contract with former Giants QB Daniel Jones. Jones played in 70 games for New York and started at 69 over six seasons. He was 24-44-1. Jones and Richardson will compete for starting positions in 2025, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. It’s safe to say Richardson has the edge over Jones. He was with the Colts for two seasons and they drafted him. Daniel Jones has a one-year contract. Who will start with Colts QB in 2025?
