Some questions are immortal. What does life mean? love is? Hollow Night Silk Song? The latter has appeared in every chat in every streaming showcase since the game was released in 2019, and in many cases the actual answer is gone. However, following the news that Team Cherry’s highly anticipated Metroidvania has arrived this year and playable demos will be available on Gamescom as part of Xbox’s Asus handheld collaboration, we feel that we will finally get a solid release date soon. Before the event, I asked Gamescom directors Stefan Heikhaus and Tim Endres with old questions.
High Couss’ reaction to “The Hollow Knight Silk Song” “You can’t pre-check the appearance of a particular game that hasn’t been announced yet. That’s part of the fun of tuning. Gamescom Opening Night Live will flourish with surprises, and the full lineup will be revealed in the show itself.” So, yes, exactly what you expected. But I tried, chat… I tried.
“What we can promise is that the show is taking up a unique festival moment that sets the tone of the world premiere, major updates, and the game’s biggest week.” It’s not a no, so don’t lose hope, Metroidvania fans: Given the size of this year’s showcase, if the release date of Hollow Night Silk Song appears everywhere, I think it’s here.
Endless said, “Gamescom has grown to 233,000 square meters of exhibition space this year, including additional halls for the largest indie area ever. It also enhances both on-site and digital products, which improves community experiences around the world.
“We were able to list dozens of changes and improvements we made for this year’s event,” he continues, “We will be moving to Hall 1 to Gamescom Opening Night Live (Moved Moted) to provide space and infrastructure to take it to even higher levels.
“The list could continue, but here’s the bottom line: Our entire team has worked so hard to refine every aspect of Gamescom. We received heartfelt feedback from all the communities last year. Endless also confirmed that increasing security is a priority in the wake of the infamous stage invasion in 2023, and emphasizes that this will never happen.
Endres and Heikhaus also note that Gamescom sees “steady growth” in its international attendance. “In 2024, the number of trade visitors from North America achieved the greatest growth along with trade visitors from Japan,” says Heycous.
“This year we have seen many exhibitors coming from more countries than ever before. While the absence or scaling of other events could be a contribution, the main driver is that companies recognize Gamescom as the most effective platform for connecting with the industry and reaching both physically and digitally.
He sees other shows and livestreams as “free” rather than as rivals.
The channels that reach their community and Gamescom play a unique role within its ecosystem. Buzz, produced by live streams, dedicated showcases and community events throughout the year, often feeds Gamescom in person. The different touchpoints make the industry even more dynamic, and Gamescom’s strength lies in it being one place where they all converge. ”
Gamescom is clearly expanding. I hope this leads to a bigger and better event, although awful for my poor little feet. I’ll be with my fellow staff member Jamie next week.
