Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) has been appointed Executive Director of Producer and Creative Executive Clare Brooks.
Brooks’ appointment comes into effect on June 10th. She recently served as production director for Stephanie Alene’s Homemade Photography and produced the 2024 Sundance Entry. Show forgivenessDirected the upcoming film Slate Otis & Zelma Danielle Deadwyler and John Boyega appeared and developed the television project under a first look agreement with Warner Bros. TV.
The appointees are known for defending emerging talent and designed and launched Netflix’s Emerging Filmmakers Initiative. She will lead the AFCI through the next chapter of growth after former executive director Jaclyn Philpott left in April.
Brooks began his career in Illumination Entertainment. Rolax and Despicable Me 2. She was part of the founding team that opened Lacinema, Alamo Draft House, before pivoting to full-time production.
The AFCI said it conducted a global search for candidates and received more than 150 submissions.
“Clair brings an incredible depth of experience to the overall production and strategic partnership,” said Marnie Guy, chairman of the AFCI board and BC Film Commissioner. “Her global perspective is particularly important as AFCI continues to expand its international reach and promote cross-border collaboration within the screen sector.”
