BAFTA Albert, the UK’s environmental sustainability organization for the screen industry, teams up with the Sustainable Entertainment Alliance (SEA), a consortium of the screens. Studios, broadcasters, streamers. We launch a guide to help you define and track production emissions for international productions.

The goal is to clarify the definitions of various emissions called scopes 1, 2, and 3 in a set.

Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by production. Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from purchased electricity, steam, heating, or cooling. Scope 3 is indirect emissions from activities up and down the value chain, such as emissions from births through means not owned or controlled by production, water, and waste disposal.

This guide covers a complete production journey and offers practical examples of how to track and report emissions.

The paper also helps productions create greenhouse gas declarations (clear records of inventory and emissions). It can be used for reports and tracking tools such as the US BAFTA Albert Toolkit and Peach and Pear.
