The JBL Flip 7 is a huge balance of functionality, toughness, sound quality and price, so you’re choosing the best Bluetooth speaker overall. It’s just a great all-around thing.

The outstanding aspect of this speaker is its toughness. It is rated IP68. This means that dust is impermeable and can survive in water (3.3 feet) for more than 30 minutes. Some competitors, such as the previous Flip 6 and the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4, are rated IP67, offering similar protection, but the Flip 7 allows for even deeper dives.

Also protecting this speaker is a rubber bumper that relieves it from the drop and a fabric cover that ensures that the dents and scratches on the rest are well hidden – an aluminum speaker grille like the Bose Sound Link, only looks smart until you take some knocks.

And of course there is the great sound of this speaker. It can provide a clear and powerful sound with an incredible amount of bass in its size. It cannot compete with big options such as JBL Charge 6. The unique Minirig 4 also drains it, but it’s great for all kinds of music genres, whether you’re relaxing in the pool, having a kitchen party or playing a few songs on a campfire.

What’s not achieved so much is that this speaker is cranked to the level of a garden/pool party. Or if you’re trying to fill a big room with sounds. It can be a bit more than 70% volume and a bit more than 70%, and there’s no real sub-bes to carry across the larger space. But it is perfectly typical of this speaker size.

Perhaps more importantly, it doesn’t offer stereo, so it’s not perfect for connecting to a gaming laptop or watching a movie or playing a game. It is to lose the stereo imaging effect. The Anker Soundcore Motion 300 is an excellent bet for such use.

On the other hand, the battery life is excellent, allowing the JBL to add 2 hours to the previous Flip 6 with a 16-hour TOAL. It’s loud and 50% volume. At 100%, the battery life will be nearly half, but if the volume is low it will last a little longer.

This and the Flip 7 are at a competitive price. It could have been launched for $150, but it’s easy to get from $120 to $130 and is placed below the prices of many competitors. So, after a backpacking speaker, for casual poolside listening, or just creating time to complete cookie recipes in the kitchen, it’s a great purchase.

The Anker Soundcore Motion 300 is a great quality Bluetooth speaker in its own right, convenient compact package with waterproofness and a handy carry strap, providing excellent sound and decent battery life. However, there are two more factors that really enhance its appeal.

The first of these is it’s really a competitive price, just $80 (now just $68 on Amazon), which is half the price of some of its competitors. Some of those competitors may not have brand cachets, and their bass presence is definitely not the strongest, but these are small compromises in their prices.

Perhaps more importantly, this speaker offers something that most competitors don’t. This is the direction and depth of the stereo sound. It’s ideal if you really want to enhance your movie viewing and gaming on your laptop, tablet or phone on your speaker. Think of it as having a small portable soundbar for your laptop

One drawback here is that it is a slightly larger speaker than something like the JBL Flip 7. It’s quite tall

If you’re looking for a big Bluetooth speaker that can really fill up a big room, a bigger poolside party, or a big ol’ campfire gathering, the JBL Charge 6 is one. Essentially it’s a large version of the Flip 7, with the same sturdy and waterproof design, but it supplies more volume, bass and longer battery life.

Undoubtedly, this is a much larger unit than the Flip 7, weighing almost twice as much, making it rather unsuitable for maintaining a backpack or traveling. Instead, it’s the ideal speaker for throwing you into the back of your car for a road trip to the beach or climbing songs for a larger backyard gathering.

Interestingly, its two single subwoofers and tweeters, as well as the two bass radiators, offer a frequency range that is claimed to be just a little deeper than the flip 7 (56Hz -20kHz vs. 60Hz -20kHz), but its bass is clearly much deeper and more powerful. If you want to feel like listening to your bass, you want to make that upgrade. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not going to shake up your foundations, but it’s a powerful unit.

As you can imagine, it’s much bigger without losing its high pitched or strength. This and it all can last 24 hours on a charge – eight hours longer than a typical small Bluetooth speaker, but only reach about half of that number.

The only major drawback of this speaker is that you can’t run stereo without connecting to the second unit using the JBL app. Realistically, this is not a very common use with this type of speaker. I wish the speaker had such a large option, especially since it’s too big to travel and use with laptop/tablet audio.

Otherwise, at its reasonable $200 price, it is a great speaker that is extremely versatile for both your indoor and outdoor listening life.

I’ve already mentioned the Anker Soundcore Motion X300, but I felt that the X500 deserves a place on this list too. It may be a little more expensive than the counterpart, but it is a more powerful device, has a longer battery life and has a durable design.

The sound quality is top notch and the sound stage is very spacious. Recommended for music, podcasts, games, and anything you want to play.

It may take a little time to charge, but there is little to say for the Anker Soundcore Motion x500. If you’re looking for the best sound quality in a case that keeps you safe while traveling, this is your best option.

Minirig is currently a stubborn guy in Bluetooth speaker space, and has been around for over 15 years and is handmade in Bristol, UK. Now, in the fourth iteration, Minirig continues to offer a unique and fantastic combination of features that are perfect for big sounds on the move.

The standout feature of this speaker is that it only has a few speaker drivers used on most competing devices. This is a few downsides, but also has one enormous advantage that allows the Mini Rig 4 to deliver a huge sound with a bass presence and low midrange drive and warmth.

Like this base power, the Minirig 4 can also pump out many volumes that compete with much larger speakers, such as the JBL Charge 6 and the Anker Soundcore Motion 500.

Plus, the Minirig 4 has an incredible battery life. The company charges up to 100 hours per bill, and across the four mini rigs I own over the last 15 years, they are all proven to reach that claim. When you increase the volume, that peak number drops – approaching 16-20 hours at almost full volume – but well beyond the competition, it’s perfect for camping and backpacking.

Another particularly useful feature is the fact that Minirig can get 3.5mm input. Actually there are two. This opens up a world of additional connection options. Additionally, you can connect two of these speakers directly to create a stereo pair and plug in a Minirig subwoofer.

Minirig 4 has three drawbacks: The first is only things, and fires straight upward, making it ideal rather than filling the room/space with sounds and providing a sound in direction. Despite being a thing, even the JBL Flip 7 is suitable for sticks at the back of the laptop, which makes the driver head forward, enhancing the audio for watching video.

The Minirig 4 is not waterproof, it is only splash proof. I left one in the rain before, and it survived well, but there is a risk of taking one poolside or the beach, but comes with a carry case to protect the solid aluminum cylinder from scratches/drips.

The ultimate problem is that these speakers are sold directly in the UK only via the Minirig site or Amazon. For people in the US or around the world, you need to import it. At £149.95 it’s a slightly more premium speaker than some of its competitors, and a bit more expensive than the Flip 7, but its power, build and battery justify the price.

If you’re looking for a Bluetooth speaker that offers truly full style/360° sound, the Ultimate Ear Boom 4 is it. The stand-up design burns audio, making it the perfect speaker to stick to the center of the table for everyone to listen to.

This ability combines a truly smooth and simple design with a key addition to waterproofing (actually floating) to remove any concerns about bringing this portable speaker anywhere. But it’s not as sturdy as the design of the JBL Flip 7.

When it comes to sound, the Boom 4 offers punchy bass and volume, easily filling large rooms. It’s not as low or loud as the charge 6 or Minirig 4, but it’s roughly equivalent to the Flip 7, but its sound has a different feel thanks to its 360° output. For example, if the speaker is located in one corner of the room, it’s not that good to listen.

A 15-hour battery life is a solid display of this format of Bluetooth speakers. Even if Flip 7 claims that hour.

There are two areas where Boom 4 will slightly miss. First, the upright design means knockover is very easy, and its rubber end design must survive most falls, but ultimately it will be a sacrifice.

There is a price especially compared to Flip 7. Both have the same MSRP, but the Boom 4 only costs $149.99.

The Steelseries are mostly known and respected for their headsets, but they also have the very amazing speakers they offer, and the Arena 7 is a prime example. Not only does it offer first-class sound quality, but it also looks fantastic as RGB lights help to fit perfectly into any flashy gaming space.

The audio visualizer settings mean that you can blink and light to match the music of the time. Ideal if you want a small house party. However, this can be annoying or distracting, and you can easily turn the lights on or off with just a flick of the switch.

But it’s not just how the Arena 7 looks – it’s a premium speaker (it also has a 3.5mm jack and USB-C connector as well as a 3.5mm jack) and is packed with a powerful subwoofer. Bass music isn’t going to shake up your entire home, but you can feel it and it’s a pretty amazing feeling. The 5.1 Surround System offers an immersive soundscape that makes it easy to lose yourself, whether you’re playing a game or when you’re trying to lose yourself in music after a difficult day.

Like inconveniently located power switches and fixed speaker cables that can be adjusted more easily, it is not without their defects. Still, you’ll just pay once and get used to Niggle quickly. We really love this speaker and cannot recommend it enough as it allows for a Bluetooth connection to anything easily.

For premium Bluetooth speakers, check out the Sonos Move 2. 2. Its design features touch capacity buttons, a metal front grille, and four far field microphones that mean business, even on the high end of most people’s budgets.

These microphones are used for voice control and its Trueplay features. This automatically fine-tunes sound levels to your environment, room, and audio. He’s smart.

The sound is also excellent, with clarity in the bass and vocals and clarity in the high-rise range. Its large body highlights the problems many small speakers face when delivering consistent crystal clear audio, and the Sonos team surpassed themselves here.

Despite its name, the Sonos Move 2 is not the most portable unit on this list. Its size means it is suitable for carrying around the house or bringing it into the garden. Whether you use an integrated handle or a 3kg integrated, you don’t want to cart too much.

Importantly, however, Move 2 significantly improves battery life by more than double its double in total in 24 hours. On the other hand, its wireless charging base is very useful when you need to refill.

Using ue hyperboom will scare your neighbors. This 14-inch monolith is a pure speaker and is almost proud of its appearance. But at 6kg like a beast, carrying it will give your biceps a workout.

If you want to enjoy a long gaming session with immersive soundscapes, it covers HyperBoom’s impressive 24-hour battery life. Speaking of Shindigs, this speaker is rated IPX4, so it can withstand cocktail spills. It can also output output as a charging unit, allowing you to blow up songs while you are narrowing down your phone.

In loud voice, the hyperboom is doing its best and has the power to actually echo the whole family. Easy to handle treble, bass and midrange sounds.

That’s because of the brain behind Bloan. It is its adaptive EQ that leads to the mass of woofers, radiators and tweeters, literally reading the room and adjusting the sound accordingly.

Bulky and extremely expensive, HyperBoom is a serious kit for the party. Ultimate Ears is moving away from revealing its output, but trust us when they say they are loud enough. You just need to use it responsibly

The Stormbox Micro 2 is a Bluetooth speaker that houses an incredible amount of power and functionality, considering its small size. It’s not bigger than the palm size. It’s small enough to take anywhere and comes with clips and straps to attach to your bike or backpack.

Conveniently, you can also charge your phone in a pinch thanks to the USB-C lineout, but the IP67 rating means it’s both waterproof and dustproof. It can also be paired with another Micro 2 for stereo audio.

This is an impressive level of functionality of such a small speaker. But how does that sound? Wonderfully, in reality. For micro speakers, there are clear, punchy notes, and there’s a lot to appreciate even the bass that’s surprisingly decent. Naturally, the driver is not big enough to deliver the volume of a large room.

Nonetheless, the Micro 2 offers a stack of features and decent performance with a ridiculously good value for money.

The Bose Soundlink Flex (2nd Generation) is a classy speaker with solid enough performance to become a strong candidate for the Flip 7, UE Boom 4, and more. However, it’s not that difficult and while there are fewer EQ options, it’s a little bigger than the Flip 7.

Instead, the place where Soundlink Flex stands out from the crowd is to include the microphone. This means that you can make phone calls with this speaker and offer some additional use compared to other portable Bluetooth speakers.

Another advantage is that this speaker is floating. So, the IP67 rating not only means it’s dusty and waterproof, but you don’t have to jump into the bottom of the pool.

On the audio front, the SoundLink Flex offers more bass than the Flip 7, with warm midrange and higher high-end details. We prefer the flip 7 sound for most listening. There is a 3-band EQ for adjusting the Flex output. This isn’t as much of a control as the Flip 7’s 7-band EQ, but it’s enough to sound great in most situations.

Importantly, despite having the famous Bose name and MSRP of $150, Soundlink Flex (second generation) is ready to go for $110 and makes it a valuable option.

The Mammoth Boombox on Partybox 310 is powerful enough to defeat a house.

This JBL party speaker is about 70cm and weighs over 17kg, which actually pushes the boundaries of portability. That said, there are many practicalities and features, including long retractable handles and wheels to make transportation easier.

Like many party speakers, there is a light show with audio cinches in the form of double round RGB lights, which helps you set the atmosphere. Also, IPX4 protection can last up to 18 hours on a single charge, making it a great option for long periods of use, although it can help you get through the strange splash of your drink. If you want to throw a solo gig along with a physical EQ button, there is also a microphone or guitar input.

The output is 240W, and the 310 is big enough for a large party, then some. The bass has lots of punchy performances, and bass boost mode can be further enhanced. And while this Behemoth works well with volume, it can be said that heavy bass songs can test their limits in large quantities, even if there are few speakers that can be completely clear.

It’s a heavy, quite, very expensive unit, but this beast is more than capable of doing justice to your favorite soundtrack.
