Have you seen the speech? The wary EU Commission’s Ursula von der Reyen Commission spoke at the European Parliament this Wednesday for over an hour. From drone alliances with Ukraine to affordable housing projects in Europe, she expressed her “wish list” with the phrase “Europe is in the fight.”
Andrea Wexler, German conservative MEP, Barry Andrews, Irish liberal, Robert Beadron, Polish socialists, followed by a speech from within the half-wheel, felt the material was right, but they must take concrete steps.
“I really want this committee to start offering,” Robert Beadron said this week that it hinted at a Russian drone invasion in Poland’s airspace.
“There’s austerity, there’s housing issues, and of course, you can give a great speech, like Ursula von der Leyen did. I support almost everything she said, including this electronic car (material) that EPP was booing her,” he continued. “But I need to deliver it to her.”
Barry Andrews saw this speech as a clever way to unite the centralist groups of the European Parliament. He called on European People’s Party leaders, socialists and Democrats to Heckling through his speech because he did not support the centralist policy proposed by the committee chair.
“If we are serious about a serious threat as a continent, as a coalition, we must start here to rebuild the European Union, the central coalition,” Andrews said.
Calling for sanctions against Israel
The panel also responded to the harsh tone of the European Commission president against Benjamin Netanyahu’s government’s actions in order to annihilate Hamas. Calling the situation in Gaza “unacceptable,” von der Leyen proposed a halt of the trade portion of the EU Israel Association Agreement.
Barry Andrews called it a major change in tone.
“It sends a very clear message to Israel,” Andrews said. “I think it really makes the Israelites sit straight, and I think it should have been done over time.”
Andrea Wechsler was a German MEP of the same political party as Von Der Leyen, and was on alert. In fact, many EPP MEPs intersected with her because they were “surprising” in this change of stance.
“There is certainly no unified position on this,” Wexler said. “We are still debated in Europe about how we will respond to the Gaza playwrights we see.”
“Brussels, my love?” with the above player.
